how we began

In 2018, I was almost 100% bedbound with ME/CFS, a disabling chronic illness. I began designing and shipping shirts, stickers, zines and cards from bed via Redbubble and a small Etsy shop. My goal at the time was just to help pay for my own medications and groceries.

Over time, the business grew - and grew - and grew! I learned the ins and outs of product sourcing and much more. I moved the business into, and almost immediately outgrew, a small office space.

BoyPilot now occupies a dedicated inventory and shipping space in my home in Bangor, Maine.

While my health has improved, I am still chronically ill, and the business operates in ways that support and accommodate disability. We do flexible hours, we work where we are most comfortable, and we employ LGBTQ+, disabled people, both as staff and as guest artists, who may experience limited employment opportunities elsewhere.

Additionally, we provide ongoing support to our state’s leading transgender advocacy organization, Maine Trans Net, via products donated to their Portland thrift shop Safe Combinations.

  • Dylan Moore (he/him)

    CREATIVE MANAGER

    Dylan founded BoyPilot Goods in 2018 and oversees design, marketing, growth and customer service.

    Apart from his work with BoyPilot, Dylan is a brand designer for small business clients. He loves art, nature and interior design.

  • Jay Evarhart (he/him)

    FULFILLMENT AND PRODUCTION SPECIALIST

    Jay joined BoyPilot in 2024 and handles packing, shipping, and production. If you’ve received an order from BoyPilot recently, chances are good that Jay packed it!

    Jay loves nature and especially birds, gardening, and is a talented artist and jewelry beader.

  • Chonklate (she/her)

    FLOOR MANAGER

    Chonklate’s duties at this time remain unclear - though we do know that she is from Corporate and doesn’t answer to local supervisors.

    She takes a particular interest in package labels, closely supervising them as they come out of the printer.
